The Most Glorious Sunset

The Most Glorious Sunset

This evening flew back from Sydney to Brisbane.  About halfway through the flight I looked out of the window and saw the most beautiful, beautiful sunset.  It was brilliant orange against a fading sky which somehow still looked blue even though it wasn't.  The sunset settled over the black of the horizon and it was truly gorgeous.

That got me to thinking....a few years ago I would have taken that extraordinary view for granted.  It simply would have been a backdrop to what I was doing at the time.  Hire, fire, buy, sell....whatever!  But over the last 5 years or so I have consciously taught myself to be drawn into the moment when the wonderful surprises of nature reveal themselves.

I guess that is not too far from when I was younger and loved being outdoors, in nature munching on a huge sandwich and slugging down Schweppes lime cordial and soda water.  Simple picknicking without really understanding the impact of nature...even though it was all around me.

Picnic Society was born from a desire to channel people's energy into the joy of being together, sharing food and being in the moment!  I'm really glad I got to experience that sunset.

Do you find it hard or easy to stop and consciously be in the moment?  There's no right or wrong answer. I'm just interested in whatever the answer is.
